Términos de uso y privacidad
Versión 2 · vigente desde el 26 de octubre de 2026.
1. Responsable
| Open Library (Internet Archive, EE. UU.)
Terms of Use and Privacy
Version 2 · effective October 26, 2026.
1. Controller
Ambient Reader (the "App") is a project of , who is responsible for the App and this policy.
2. Permitted use
The App is free. You may use it from its official site for personal use, which includes reading for pleasure, studying, teaching, research and reading work material, on your own device or a shared one. You may not copy it to host it elsewhere, modify it, redistribute it or exploit it commercially without permission. Details are in the license. By using the App, you accept these terms.
3. Your books
The books you import are read and analyzed on your own device. The only exception is the optional AI analysis, which sends the text to Groq (see section 4). The App does not host, publish or distribute books. You are responsible for having the right to use the files you import.
Catalog soundscapes do not contain the text of the books and cannot be used to rebuild it: they store numeric fingerprints of some paragraphs and the sound tags. Those fingerprints exist precisely to recognize which work it is.
4. What leaves your device
| To whom | What is sent | Why and when |
|---|---|---|
| Groq (USA) | Your Groq key, to get the list of available models; and, when analyzing, the analysis instructions and the text of the paragraphs, in parts. The title, author and other data about you are not sent. | The model list, when you paste your key, open the model list or start the analysis (not when opening the App). The text, only if you start the AI analysis. It is processed by your own Groq account, under Groq's API terms and privacy policy, which include how long requests are kept. |
| Open Library (Internet Archive, USA) | Five eight-word phrases taken from the book. | Only if you tap "Look up the title online", to find the title and author. Since the book's title is still unknown, the search has to use its text; the App warns you before sending them. |
| cdnjs (Cloudflare) | Nothing from the book: your browser downloads the libraries to read EPUB, PDF and DOCX from there. | When importing those formats. |
| The provider hosting this site | Requests for the App's files (code, sounds, typefaces and catalog). | When using the App. |
In every case, these providers receive technical connection data, such as your IP address and browser type, and may log it according to their configuration and policies. The App does not send any of them the page it calls them from (no "referer"). It uses no accounts, tracking cookies, analytics, ads or external error reporting, and the owner does not receive your books or reading data. It does not ask anyone, including minors, to sign up or give their age or personal data.
5. What is stored in your browser
- Your books, reading position, corrections, analyses and preferences. They are stored only in your browser and never leave it.
- Your Groq key, only if you check "Remember the key in this browser". It is stored unencrypted in your browser's storage, which is not a safe: someone with access to your device, or a security flaw, could read it. We recommend using a key just for this App and revoking it from your Groq account if you suspect it was exposed.
- To delete everything, remove the books from the library, uncheck "Remember the key in this browser" or clear this site's data in your browser settings.
6. Your rights over your data
Argentine Personal Data Protection Law 25.326 gives you the right to access, rectify, update and request the deletion of your personal data. Since the App does not store your data outside your device, the owner normally holds no data about you. If you write to the owner, what you send is used only to reply, and you can exercise those rights through the same contact. For data held by Groq, Open Library, cdnjs or the hosting provider, contact them.
The data subject has the right to access their personal data free of charge at intervals of no less than six months, unless a legitimate interest is shown, as provided in article 14, paragraph 3 of Law 25.326. The Agency for Access to Public Information, as the supervisory authority of Law 25.326, is empowered to handle complaints from anyone whose rights are affected by non-compliance with personal data protection rules.
7. Third-party components
Third-party sounds, typefaces and libraries keep their own licenses, which this App does not restrict. They are listed in the third-party notices and the sound credits.
8. Donations
Donations are voluntary and not required to use the App. They grant no extra advantages, features or rights, and do not oblige the owner to provide support or anything in return. They are processed by the platform you choose, under its terms. Refund requests are governed by those terms and by applicable law.
9. Warranty and liability
The App is provided free of charge and "as is". The owner strives for it to work well, but does not guarantee that it will always be available or error-free, or that the analysis will get the scene right. To the extent permitted by law, the owner is not liable for damages arising from its use or inability to use it. This does not limit your rights under Argentine Consumer Protection Law 24.240 or other rules that cannot be waived by contract.
10. Changes
These terms may be updated. Each version states its number and effective date above, and applies from that date onward, not retroactively. Important changes will be announced in the App.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic, without prejudice to your rights as a consumer.
